Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach early Thursday under suspicion of driving under the influence and drag racing. Of course, this set Twitter ablaze with Bieber mugshots, snarky remarks and general nonsense.
But perhaps no one enjoyed the Twitter schadenfreude more than Keyshawn Johnson and Eric Dickerson, a pair of retired NFL legends. That may not make any sense now, but it will soon.
First, Johnson posted this on Thursday morning:
And Dickerson tweeted:
Then another from Johnson:
What's up with two NFL legends publicly squaring off against Bieber after his DUI arrest? The beef can be traced back to last May, and it centers around — you guessed it — Bieber's driving.
Bieber, Johnson and Dickerson all live in the tiny southern California suburb of Calabasas. Dickerson and Johnson, who both have kids, have long taken issue with Bieber allegedly tearing up and down the quiet streets of Calabasas rather recklessly.
According to a TMZ report in May, Johnson, driving a Prius, chased Bieber, driving a Ferrari, through the streets of Calabasas one night. He then got out of his car and attempted to confront Bieber face-to-face about the young pop star's driving. Alas, Bieber reportedly "ran inside of his house and refused to come out."
Dickerson came to Johnson's aide after the report, posting this tweet:
That set off a frenzied attack by Beliebers who were eager to defend their pop idol. Here's just one example of tweets sent to Dickerson, who is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame:
So there you have it. Dickerson and Johnson were so tickled by Bieber's arrest because of some standard neighborly discord. In other words: Get off their lawn.
