NBA Player Makes Nice With Fan After Beaning Her With Basketball

During an NBA game on Friday night, Gerald Henderson of the lowly Charlotte Bobcats botched a cross-court pass, sailing it over a teammate and out of bounds. Meanwhile, a female fan walked along the sideline in front of the first row of seats. Ball met fan, smacking her right in the head, and the fan toppled over.
The unlikely episode flooded sports fans' social feeds on Friday night after being recorded by a Vine user. This clip has since been tweeted more than 11,000 times:
But snickers soon gave way to concern after people went from incredulous delight over the fluke play to wondering whether the woman was actually hurt. As it turns, out, she apparently walked away just fine. How do we know this? Thanks to Twitter, of course.

It took Henderson a little while to notice the response, but once he did, a nice little back-and-forth ensued:
Perhaps not as faith-in-humanity-restoring as the time a rookie MLB pitcher dispatched a troll in the classiest way possible, but a good reminder nonetheless that athletes do more on Twitter than just fail royally.
