'Hope You're Having a Scary Day, Everyone. This Is R.L. Stine.'

What's This?

Scholastic's social media accounts looked a little spooky today.

R.L. Stine, the "Stephen King of children's literature" and the author of the iconic Goosebumps series, took over the publishing company's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+ pages on Wednesday to answer fans' questions and put them in the Halloween spirit a day before the holiday.

Stine took ahold of Scholastic's social media on Halloween in 2011. The team planned to revive the tradition last year, but canceled in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Instead, Stine used his personal Twitter account to tell us a scary story in only 13 tweets as a Halloween treat.

During this year's social media takeover, Stine opened up about his books and his family — and even a fuzzy duck costume from his childhood.

Social media users asked Stine questions on Twitter about his career beginnings and how he came to write such creepy books.

On Facebook, he discussed the writing process and what it takes to pen scary tales.

Other questions delved a little more personal. We learned about Stine's children, his favorite foods and even his childhood Halloween costumes.

The author also talked about his current projects and the future of the iconic Goosebumps series.
