Iceland has the fewest barriers to Internet freedom, according a recent study ranking countries based on obstacles to access, limits on content and violations of user rights. Iceland scored just six out of a possible 40 points. (The lower number of points, the higher level of Internet freedom.)
Internet users in Estonia, which trails Iceland by just three points, also enjoys a high degree of freedom. The United States tied with Germany for third place on the rankings, each with a total of 17 points each. Argentina and Kenya have the most barriers to Internet freedom, with 27 and 28 points, respectively.
Statista's chart, below, shows the 10 countries with the highest degrees of Internet freedom, as measured by the Freedom House Index.
