After the tooth marks, the controversy, the memes, the denial and the suspension, serial soccer biter Luis Suarez has finally offered an apology to the Italian defender whose shoulder he bit during Uruguay's final World Cup group stage match last Tuesday.

Well ... kind of.

In a Monday morning post to his 3 million Twitter followers, Suarez wrote that "the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me."

Here's the full text.

So there's that. Suarez also appears to promise that he'll never be involved in another biting incident again after preceding last week's nosh with previous cannibalistic acts against opponents while playing for Dutch club Ajax in 2010 and English club Liverpool in 2013. Then again, that part of the note trails off after "like," so perhaps Suarez is simply leaving himself an out.

Chiellini, for his part, called the four-month ban FIFA handed down on Suarez "excessive" last week.
