12 Kentucky Derby Recipes Fit for a Southern Feast, Y'all

What's This?

Dust off your loudest hats, because May 2 marks the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Nicknamed "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports," this American tradition takes place annually in Louisville, Kentucky, at the historical Churchill Downs. Each year, more than 150,000 attendees turn out to sip mint juleps, dine on classic southern fare and cheer on the horses of their choice.

For the rest of us, the closest we can get to seeing the festivities live is throwing a Derby party with delicious comfort food recipes. Chow down on bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin, grilled asparagus and creamy mac and cheese, while sipping homemade sweet tea.

Even if you couldn't care less which horse makes it past the finish line, let the Derby serve as an excuse to whip up all your southern favorites.
