If the only thing you love more than your cellphone is your hot glue gun, you might want to clear your weekend plans, because we have a few DIY crafts that will be right up your alley.

Put aside your half-knitted scarf in favor of one of these projects, which are as good at keeping your precious gadgets safe as they are at looking fantastic.

From your cellphone to your headphone cords, there are simple fixes that’ll keep all your gadgets safe from harm, all of which you can accomplish in one crafty afternoon. Here are our favorites.

1. A Snazzy Laptop Sleeve

A laptop sleeve is paramount to anyone who wants to take his or her laptop off the desk from time to time. There are plenty of great laptop sleeve options out there, but a homemade version adds a little pizzazz for when your laptop is traveling from point A to point B. There are plenty of versions to choose from but this tutorial is a piece of cake.

Looking for something more challenging? Try this quilted version or this zippered version.

2. A Colorful Cord

When we say "protect your tech," we mean protect from anything — even yourself. Anyone who's been in a room with more than one iPhone user knows how simple it is to lose a charger cord.

If you're worried about telling yours apart from the sea of plain white wires, a Sharpie or a bit of nail polish can go a long way. You can use the above tutorial to spruce yours up with some glitter.

3. A Cord as Tough as Nails

Why stop at just a pop of color? If you remember your days at camp when you were a teenager, you can protect your cord from breaking or fraying by wrapping it like a friendship bracelet.

As an added bonus, you no longer have to worry about your cord tangling again; the added thickness of the string keeps your cord from knotting up.

4. A Stylish Phone or Tablet Pouch

Even with a case, haphazardly throwing your phone into your purse or dropping it on the sidewalk is asking for a cracked screen. Cushion the blow with a tailor-made cellphone pouch, like the one in the tutorial above. Props if you add the cute bow.

Want something a little simpler? Try this ready-made leather template from Swellmayde or opt for the Martha Stewart felt version; it works for both iPhones and tablets.
