You Can Live Stream Andy Warhol's Grave 24/7

What's This?

The art world never sleeps — and neither, apparently, does American pop art icon Andy Warhol. He's back in the spotlight.

A live stream Monday of the acclaimed artist's grave celebrated his birthday. Born Aug. 6, 1928, Warhol would have been 85 years old on Tuesday. He died in 1987 at age 58.

Live-streaming site EarthCam and Pittsburgh's Andy Warhol Museum kicked off an exhibition called "Figment" to honor the artist and highlight his thoughts on death. The name of the exhibition reportedly refers to one of Warhol's most famous musings on the bitter end:

I never understood why when you died, you didn’t just vanish, and everything could just keep going on the way it was only you just wouldn’t be there. I always thought I’d like my own tombstone to be blank. No epitaph and no name. Well, actually, I’d like it to say ‘figment.’

The Warhol Museum says you can access the stream 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The "Figment" feed shows balloons, flowers, Campbell's soup cans and other nods.

There's no word yet on how long the feed will stay up, so check it out while you still can.

And if you're feeling truly celebratory, you can donate a soup can, a bouquet of flowers or both to be sent to Warhol's grave. Within 48 hours, EarthCam will do its best to alert you when to check out your delivery live on camera.

EarthCam is partnering with St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church, with a portion of the proceeds going to The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.
