Lorde 'Crashed' Vevo With New Music Video for 'Team'

What's This?

She may never be a royal, but 17-year-old Lorde apparently has enough power to disrupt Vevo, as her new music video for "Team" temporarily brought down her Vevo channel.

The electro pop singer-songwriter from New Zealand — best known for her breakout viral hit "Royals" — took to Twitter after the video premiered to humorously express her concerns.

Though the video doesn't have uncharacteristically high levels of server-crashing views, some people attempting to view it were unable to do so on Vevo on Monday.

She explained the video, which has a motorbike joust and mysterious drink, on Facebook:

WE'RE ON EACH OTHER'S TEAM. this video was borne from a dream i had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen. i dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. and of this world, i dreamt about tests that didn't need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger. enjoy xx
