What's This?

Social-media-day-2013-60-1

Summer is the perfect time to get your DIY on. It's often too hot to go outside and there's nothing better than putting your mind to a task and seeing something you created with your own two hands.

That's why The Home Depot and Mashable have teamed up this summer to issue a call to hacktion for all you DIYers out there who have great ideas and want to share them with the world. The goal is to curate your best, brightest and most clever DIY hacks.

It's time to start thinking outside of the toolbox, and for you to show us how you've repurposed everyday items to create awesome new things. If you want to submit your own hack for a chance to be featured on Mashable, design something and tweet it with #HDHacks. Here are some thought-starters to get your creative juices flowing:

  • What does your favorite app look like in real-life?

  • How many different things can be made into chess pieces?

  • Can a game be made into outdoor games?

Below, we've outlined seven clever and creative hacks. If you want some more inspiration, check out The Home Depot tumblr for some awesome DIY projects you can do yourself. Make sure you remember to submit your awesome DIY creations with the hashtag #HDHacks for a chance to be featured on Mashable.
