New York City is home to more than 8 million people of which roughly 36% are immigrants, according to recent statistics. The city has long been a beacon to those seeking a better life, and its welcoming nature has given rise to a famously vibrant LGBTQ community, whose presence has shaped its history for at least a century.



To mark Pride Month, we spoke with several members of the immigrant LGBTQ community to hear in their words what the community, the city, and its accompanying freedom means to them.
