It's going to be a quiet summer on Twitter.

The network announced on Monday a new mute feature that allows users the option to silence followers without completely blocking or unfollowing them.

It may seem counterintuitive — unless you've endured the awkward pitfalls of unfollowing someone on Twitter. Finally, you're free from scrolling through excessively annoying tweets about the Game of Thrones episode you haven't watched yet or the Rangers' game you could care less about.

The feature will be rolled out over the next few weeks, but start keeping tabs, because these types will likely be the first to get muted.
