Good news: Nest has apparently sold more than 400,000 smoke alarms just more than six months after the product launched. Bad news: The company has issued a recall on all of them.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Nest is recalling 440,000 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to repair a glitch that accidentally silences the device.
The smart home device maker first announced last month that it had halted sales on the device after discovering a flaw related to a feature called Nest Wave, which let users turn off the device simply by waving their hands in front of it. The problem is that the feature can also be activated accidentally.
According to the CPSC, the issue can be repaired with an automatic update when the device is connected to a wireless network and linked to a Nest account. For more information on connecting your device, check here.
Nest, which also sells thermostats, was acquired for $3.2 billion in cash earlier this year.
