Couple Remodels Home to Look Like the House From 'Up'

What's This?

Who wouldn’t want to live a house that looks like it jumped out of their favorite cartoon? Well, one California couple made that a reality for their kids and now some neighbors are up in arms about it.

A couple in Santa Clara remodeled their Victorian to look like the house from Disney Pixar's Up — in which 78-year-old Carl Frederickson ties thousands of balloons to his colorful Victorian house in order to see the wonders of South America — but some neighbors claim the house's bright colors don't belong in the historical neighborhood.

“It really, in my opinion, is atrocious that this Victorian is a gracious old lady and it’s been painted up like a clown,” neighbor Lou Faria told the NBC Bay Area News .

The homeowners, however, simply claim their intentions were to make their daughters happy. “We're not trying to create controversy… We're trying to build a home for our daughters and our family. And that's what our intention was,” they told the outlet.
