Internet Remembers Harold Ramis With Twinkies and Proton Packs
What's This?
Harold Ramis lives on in quotable moments, ghost-busting and Twinkie tributes.
The writer and director's list of credits reads like a much-watch list for anyone who grew up on comedies in the 1980s and '90s. Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day remain staples of web culture decades after their theatrical releases.
So when the Internet heard about Ramis' death Monday at the age of 69, the clever tributes streamed in. (But not cross-streamed — never do that.) Ash Vickers of Megacynics saluted Ramis' famous role as Dr. Egon Spengler in a comic more emotional than the demise of Zuul.
The tributes extended to real life, including a cheeky memorial outside New York City firehouse Hook & Ladder 8, the setting for Ghostbuster HQ.
Another photo showing the Ghostbusters sign hanging outside the firehouse also spread online. That image was not taken today, despite what Imgurians claim.
Take a break from watching Groundhog Day on repeat (totally meta) to remember the talents of a comedy legend.
Goodbye, Egon — err, Mr. Ramis.
