Report: Bing Unveils Monster-Sized Search Ads
What's This?
Bing is making sure that you never, ever miss an ad again.
Microsoft's search engine is offering advertisers "Hero Ads," or full-page ads, which come up when a user searches a specific company by name, according to Larry Kim, th echief technology officer of search marketing company Wordstream.
If you search for "Home Depot," "RadioShack" or "Walt Disney World" on Bing, for example, you might come face-to-face with a monster-sized, full-screen advertisement.
Additional search results will appear on the second page.
The new ads, which Bing announced at an event at Microsoft's campus on Wednesday, are being tested right now with customers in the United States using Windows 8.1, Kim wrote. It's not clear when, if ever, the Hero Ads will be available to those using Bing on other operating systems.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
