Guy Stuffs iPhone 5 Parts Into Gold 'iPhone 5S' Body

What's This?

Another video of an allegedly leaked gold iPhone 5S has made its way to the web, but this one reveals some internal changes we could see with the new device.

Instead of providing just a first look at a case, YouTube tech reviewer TLDToday rips apart an iPhone 5 and attempts to put its parts into the purported iPhone 5S housing. However, he runs into trouble along the way due to some minor adjustments with the "5S."

First, he describes the casing as more of a "champagne" color, rather than the rumored "gold" option. The review says the shade is actually lighter and softer than gold. It's unclear, however, if this is an actual Apple case. While, TLD's YouTube channel has 239,000 subscribers, there's no apparent track record for getting an Apple product before the general public.

Assuming the video is authentic, it appears that Apple will have to assemble the 5S differently than the iPhone 5. The biggest challenge the reviewer encountered in his tear-down mission was the new positioning of the slots used to screw in the launch board.

"By Apple moving it over slightly to the right, they are going to beef up the processor but slim down the form factor, effectively leaving more room for battery on the left," he says.

He explains that the battery on the iPhone 5 is up against the screw slots, but there is more space for the battery with the alleged next-generation device. So, he was unable to fully insert the iPhone 5 parts into the "iPhone 5S" body.

Other differences include the inner screws near the top and the cutout shape for the dual LED flash. If this is actually the device, those changes hint at improvements for the camera.

"On the outside, however, everything pretty much looks identical — the Lightning port, the speakers, the headphones the SIM card slot and even the buttons are all placed the same," the reviewer says. "We really see those tweaks and differences on the inside."
