'Ender's Game' Fans Must Fight Online to Get Trailer Preview
What's This?
Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate are making Ender's Game fans battle on social media to earn an exclusive preview of the science-fiction film's final trailer.
The mission, if you choose to accept it, begins at IF-BattleSchool.com, a new site the studios shared first with Mashable. There, you will need to take the International Fleet's Battle School Aptitude Test to determine your role in defending Earth from any another invasion.
After that, you'll be tasked to share your ID badge on Facebook or Twitter. If your army gets the most shares by Aug. 5 at noon ET, you'll unlock the exclusive preview clip
The full trailer for Ender's Game, which is based on Orson Scott Card's book of the same name, arrives Aug. 6. More International Fleet battles for exclusive content will occur ahead of the movie's Nov. 1 theatrical premiere.
To encourage people to participate, the studios created a recruitment video starring Harrison Ford who plays Colonel Graff in the movie.
The film's first trailer, below, premiered in May during a Google+ Hangout featuring director Gavin Hood, producer Bob Orci and actor Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender Wiggin.
The studios are also utilizing Tumblr to hold over fans until the movie hits theaters. Described as the digital news hub of the International Fleet, the Tumblr page features propaganda posters, the recruitment video and archival footage from the previous invasion.
