Early Pixar Employee Accepts Disney Legend for Steve Jobs
What's This?
This past weekend, the D23 Expo 2013 honored the late Steve Jobs with a "Disney Legend" award. John Lasseter, an early employee of Pixar, accepted it on behalf of the Apple co-founder and former chief executive officer and recounted his memories and experiences with Jobs onstage. Two videos of the acceptance speech have since appeared online.
It's emotional footage, but fans of Apple, Pixar, and — of course — Jobs will want to watch Lasseter's acceptance speech in full. Both of the below videos offer similar footage, though one is shot at a different angle.
Disney said of its 2013 awards:
The Disney Legend Award is our highest and most coveted honor. It's reserved for the extraordinary visionaries and artists behind the Disney magic, the men and women who push the limits of innovation and creativity to ensure Disney remains truly special. The eight Legends we honor this year helped create some of our most beloved characters along with exciting new worlds and thrilling attractions. They also entertained millions of people and expanded our definition of whats possible. They are all indelible parts of our legacy, and we are proud to recognize them as true Disney Legends.
Monsters University stars Billy Crystal and John Goodman, as well as Dick Clark, were among other noteworthy figures who received the award.
