Return to Rapture in New 'BioShock Infinite' DLC

What's This?

Irrational Games announced three new downloadable content chapters for BioShock Infinite , and the first is available Tuesday.

Combat in the Clouds is a purely combat-based expansion that presents players with "a series of unique, intense challenges and a whole new gambit of combat opportunities," according to Irrational's description. It's available for download Tuesday for Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and PC for $4.99.

Players can unlock new audio recording Voxophones (devices in the game that reveal more of the backstory) and concept art by completing Combat in the Clouds' 60 challenges. The game is set in new BioShock Infinite environments inspired by the floating city of Columbia.

Upcoming Burial at Sea is a two-part DLC that is still in development by Irrational. It puts main characters Booker Dewitt and Elizabeth in the underwater world of Rapture familiar to players from BioShock 1 and 2. The story takes place before Rapture becomes the flooded, mostly abandoned nightmare world found in previous games; it focuses on DeWitt's detective agency established in what was a bustling city in 1958. The story focuses on investigation, and does not center around combat.

The Burial at Sea DLC's second chapter allows players to play as Elizabeth for the first time, who is older and wiser than when gamers first encountered her in Columbia.

Each chapter of Burial at Sea will cost $14.99, though both and Combat in the Clouds can be purchased as a bundle through the BioShock Infinite Season Pass for $19.99. Irrational Games has not given a release date for Burial at Sea.
