John Williams to Continue 'Star Wars' Musical Legacy, Scoring 'Episode VII'
What's This?
Hollywood music composer John Williams will score Star Wars: Episode VII , continuing his legacy of composing music for all of the previous six movies in the Star Wars saga.
Lucasfilm confirmed Saturday that Williams will be part of the team behind Episode VII, joining director J.J. Abrams on the film, which is slated for release in 2015. Williams had composed the Star Wars theme song, "Main Title," now a widely-recognized tune.
"The galaxy far, far away, I actually feel like I'm still in it — I've never really left it," Williams said in an official Star Wars video interview. "Having worked on all of the six films, I'm just happy to be continuing to be part of the whole fun of doing it."
As an award-winning composer, 81-year-old Williams is acclaimed for composing the musical scores for hit movies, including the Indiana Jones series, Jurassic Park and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. He has won five Academy Awards for his work.
