Create a Flipbook of Your Top 20 Instagrams With Everlapse Tool
What's This?
A new web tool from Everlapse, an app that creates Vine-like flipbooks of photographs, curates your 20 most-favorited Instagram snaps into an shareable and embeddable slideshow. The tool launched Tuesday — just weeks after the Everlapse app debuted.
Above, you'll see my Everlapse "Highlights Reel," which showcases my Instagram photos from the Oscars and my stints with Kanye West, Seth Meyers, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Jonas Brothers, Lonely Island, Ian Somerhalder and more.
"People pour so much time and effort into making great Instagrams, and it seemed like a natural fit to import them into a quick way to see your highlights," Aaron Gotwalt, who co-founded Everlapse with his team at startup Seesaw, told Mashable.
The highlights generator lets you share your creation to Facebook or Twitter as well as embed it on a website. When saving your slideshow, the tool automatically shares a tweet like this:
Like with other photo compilations built using Everlapse, you and others can add more photos to the highlight reel in addition to your top 20 Instagrams.
"Our hope is that people excited about this first experience will download the app and create great things," Gotwalt added.
The app premiered for iOS users July 11, letting them share their lives "frame by frame." He envisions brands, not just individuals, latching onto the app's collaborative capabilities.
"It's a fun way to experience the world and be part of something," he said. "We think that Everlapse might have real relevance for brands in the future. Whether it's people adding pictures of their favorite Nike [shoes], a clip showing the latte art at their favorite coffee shop, or people adding pictures of their hotel room, Everlapse is a great way to engage with brand enthusiasts to tell a story."
The Everlapse team — which includes Gotwalt and fellow founders Jesse Engle and Kyle Sollenberger — says an Android version of Everlapse is "on our agenda." For now, Gotwalt says, they're "focussed on understanding the mechanics that work in our iOS application, and then we'll bring those to other platforms as soon as we can."
