Apple: Get Ready For a 'Very Busy Fall'
What's This?
Apple has a message for customers and investors: new products are coming soon.
During the company's third quarter earnings call Tuesday, Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer noted that the company is planning to have a busy product rollout schedule this fall.
"We are on track to have a very busy fall," Oppenheimer said in response to an analyst question. He then added that he expects to "go into more detail in October." That doesn't mean Apple is planning to launch products in October; Oppenheimer was referring to Apple's next earnings call.
Apple has not released a major new product since the iPad came out in early November, during which time the stock has plummeted down to the low $400 range. Apple's CEO Tim Cook hinted during the earnings call in April that Apple would not release new products until this fall — meaning the company would go nearly a full year without a major product launch.
As is usually the case, Apple's execs did not go into much detail about which products it will release in the coming months, but it's widely expected that Apple will release the next generation iPhone and perhaps a budget model, as well as updating the iPad and releasing a new MacBook Pro.
"We're working on some stuff that we're really proud of," Cook said on the earnings call Tuesday. "We'll announce things when we're ready."
