60-Shot Frappuccino Breaks Record for Most Expensive Starbucks Drink by $3
What's This?
The Starbucks drink king has been dethroned. Long live the queen.
Medical student Sameera Raziuddin broke the record for the world's most expensive Starbucks drink with a 60-shot Frappuccino costing $57.75 (after a discount). The 23-year-old's record officially takes the title from caffeine fiend Andrew Chifari, whose famous Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino cost $54.75.
Raziuddin entered the Pembroke Pines Starbucks in Florida on Saturday with a massive 1.5 gallon container, complete with a spigot on the bottom, to hold her caffeinated concoction. Her drink, along with the espresso, contained caramel, hazelnut and white mocha syrups, chai flavor, soy milk, cream, matcha powder, vanilla bean powder, and mocha, hazelnut and vanilla drizzle.
The grand total came to $61.22, but with Raziuddin's loyalty card, she received a discount that brought the total to $57.75. Raziuddin, ever the savvy consumer, paid for the drink with a reward from her loyalty card.
As a Muslim, Raziuddin observes Ramadan, a month of fasting through July 28 that is broken at sunset each day. She has received some criticism online for breaking the rules of Ramadan by consuming the beverage — but as confirmed by her receipt, Starbucks made Raziuddin's drink at 11:02 p.m., well past sunset.
Plus, she's sharing the wealth with her friends because she knows "how dangerous it could be to consume that much caffeine in one sitting," Raziuddin told Mashable.
May she enjoy every last sip of victory from her mighty cup.
