About 25 people were trapped on the Ninja roller coaster at Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, and specialized crews were working to get them down from the ride suspended more than 40 feet above ground.

The coaster hit a tree branch around 6 p.m., injuring at least four people, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The people still on the ride were "alert and corresponding with park personnel during the evacuation process," park spokeswoman Sue Carpenter told the Times.

Live footage of the rescue effort showed a specialized search-and-rescue team working to extricate passengers who hung awkwardly from the cars.
