'Kaling Me Softly' and Other De-licorices Food Puns

The only thing better than good food is a good pun to pair with it.

Photographer Laura Prouty began her journey of food appreciation with an Instagram account and a simple idea: Take pictures of people's favorite foods and pair them with puns, movie quotes and jokes. Talking Food has since expanded to a full-fledged photography series celebrating what we all love about food.

"One quite literally stormy night, I thought, that bag of unripe avocados sitting on the kitchen counter was of no use to me. I obsessed over that bag for a few days until I was able to eat them all. It was then that I realized my love for avocados is AVOCONTROL," Prouty explains on the Talking Food website.

In 2013, Prouty partnered with RGG Photo to continue the series. Photographers Rob Grimm and Gary Martin take most of the photographs and pair them with Prouty's tag lines, which vary from the simple pun like "I Art You" to clever pop culture references like "Kaling Me Softly"
