The Dutch may have dominated speed skating in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but Canada took hold of ice hockey. Sunday's Photo of the Day gets in on the action at the men's ice hockey gold medal game as Canada's Sidney Crosby slides the puck past Sweden's Henrik Lundqvist, scoring the team's second goal.

The action-packed image was taken by Getty Images photographer Martin Rose hours before the closing ceremonies. It works to capture the powerful desire both players had to be the top brass.

"One of the most anticipated events in the winter Olympics is the men's gold medal game," Rose said. "The passion these players have when representing their countries in a game as physical and intense as hockey is unmatched in any other Olympic sport."

He also noted that the photograph portrays a memorable moment present in any hockey match, this time at an Olympic level.

"One of the most compelling aspects of the game are the one-on-one match-ups that occur," he said. "Both Crosby and Lundqvist are marquee players in the NHL and are the best in the world at their respective positions."

Canada took home the event's gold medal, defeating Sweden in a 3-0 shutout.
