What's This?

While Olympians compete on the snowy slopes in Sochi, Russia for the Winter Olympics, Mother Nature wanted to remind the world of the awe-inspiring, yet deadly potential of snow.

In Italy’s South Tyrol region, residents of the the Passiria Valley witnessed a slow-moving avalanche roll thunderously down a nearby mountain, just barely missing the houses in the valley on Feb. 6. According to the Mirror News , no one was harmed during avalanche, with the 25 locals evacuating the village just in time.

A local farmer captured the video (above) that shows the snow-packed river creeping steadily down the mountain and through the valley.
