'Walking Dead' Tops Twitter TV Ratings Thanks to a Can of Pudding

AMC's The Walking Dead ended its mid-season hiatus Sunday, and it returned to significant Twitter buzz. Aside from gory zombie deaths, one moment in particular catapulted the show back to the top of Nielsen's weekly Twitter TV Ratings chart.


Survivor Carl Grimes, the angst-filled son of lead protagonist Rick Grimes, once again wandered off alone into an abandoned home, found himself in a scary zombie attack and barely escaped from being bitten. Luckily, he only lost a shoe in the heart-pounding process.



To celebrate his near-death experience, Carl consumed a 112-ounce can of chocolate pudding; that scene helped the show become the top-performing broadcast on Twitter for the week of Feb. 3 to 9. The episode, entitled "After," garnered 1,240,000 total tweets.




Although viewers also tweeted about the sword-wielding Michonne's backstory, Rick's enormously long nap and Carl's questionable behavior, viewers largely focused on the pudding scene:
