'Work-in-Progress Bars' Make Fun Out of Frustration

What's This?

Waiting for an application's progress bar to crawl its way to the finish line can be a big test of patience. Whether it takes hours or a few minutes, it always feels like an eternity.

For Swedish graphic artist Viktor Hertz, it's a daily frustration. Hertz has several big-name clients, including IKEA and Ray-Ban, but it's his small personal project inspired by our collective impatience with progress bars that's making waves online.

Hertz's inspiration for the idea came while he was waiting for a particularly large file to finish loading in Adobe Illustrator. He told Mashable that he decided to "tweak it into something new, just for fun basically ... for my own amusement and as a personal challenge."

Check out all of Hertz's designs in his online gallery; then tell him what you think via Facebook or Twitter.
