What's This?

Yahoo's San Francisco team is packing up and moving. Yahoo announced Thursday that it has signed a lease on office space within the San Francisco Chronicle building on Fifth and Mission to accommodate its growing team. (CEO Marissa Mayer's 20 acquisitions at Yahoo have certainly helped with that growth.)

This is the second major lease Yahoo has signed this season, following the old The New York Times building in Times Square.

A spokesperson from Yahoo admits the company enjoys the symbolism: "Transformation is palpable everywhere you turn at Yahoo… [The building] personifies the digital revolution in how people around the world consume media," Jacqueline Reses, chief development officer at Yahoo, wrote on Yahoo's corporate Tumblr.

Reses says Yahoo is redesigning the space and is moving the team into the building later this year. That, and they're hiring.

Yahoo's headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif. will stay put for now.
