Watch Google's First Moto X Video Ads

What's This?

Those expecting missives against Apple or a sweeping branding campaign for the Moto X will be disappointed by the first three ads for the phone.

The videos, which hit YouTube on Thursday, play up the Quick Capture camera that "snaps pics with a flick of the wrist," its Always Ready voice control feature and the ability to customize your phone's looks. In one ad, a guy sleeps in and tells his Moto X to make a note to buy more coffee. Another ad, which promotes the customization feature, boasts the tagline: "Designed by you. Assembled in the U.S.A."

Google previously underscored its "made in the United States" credentials in a July 4 ad. That strategy vies with a similar effort from Apple that trumpets that its products are "designed by Apple in California."

It's unclear whether these new ads are part of a mass market brand campaign for Moto X or simply one-offs. Google representatives could not be reached for comment.

The ads come after Google toned down some racy language in digital ads and communication around the Moto X.
