'Plants vs. Zombies 2' Headed to App Store

The zombies are coming.

Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, the next generation of the popular game by PopCap, is headed to the App Store Thursday morning.

The time reference in the game’s title refers to the long wait for its release, as well as the subject of the game: time travel.

In Plants vs. Zombies 2, you’re tasked with going back in time to search for Crazy Dave’s taco. He’s the guy from the first version who kept trying to sell you things out of the trunk of his car.

The game is currently divided up into three different stages: ancient Egypt, a pirate ship and the wild West, each with their own unique levels.

Much like the original version, you use plants to keep the zombies at bay. Version 2 brings a number of additional plants into the mix, as well as new ways to interact with the zombies on the screen.
