Our favorite TV stars just got a little goofier.

Artist Marissa Schmidt has always been a fan of characters in books, TV and film. So it's fitting that she created the Sitcom Caricatures series, a collection of cartoon illustrations dedicated to today's favorite television stars.

"Whenever I need a break from other projects, I find that doing quick portraits of my favorite pop-culture personalities is both fun and artistically satisfying," Schmidt told Mashable. "Lately I've been practicing with caricatures; it's challenging because you have to push and pull features in just the right way."

The series includes satirical portraits of How I Met Your Mother's Barney Stinson and Parks and Recreation's Ben Wyatt. Schmidt also doodled Modern Family's happy couple Cam and Phil, and Dwight, Jim and Stanley from The Office.

Schmidt also explained the importance of understanding the character's on-camera persona before illustrating for accuracy.

"It's not enough to just look at a reference picture, especially because the 'perfect' reference doesn't always exist," she said. "You really have to be familiar with the mannerisms of the actor and watch how they move."

When asked for her favorite, she said Jim because "I feel like I know him, and he also has some unique physical traits that are instantly recognizable".

Schmidt plans on using the caricature sketches as stepping stones for full-color paintings.
