20 Eclectic Jeff Bezos Investments

What's This?

Jeff Bezos just acquired The Washington Post for $250 million.

As we noted, WaPo isn't Bezos' first foray into media investments. Back in April, Bezos led a $5 million investment round in Business Insider as part of his venture fund, Bezos Expeditions.

Bezos' investment portfolio is, shall we say, "eclectic." Amazon's co-founder and CEO is worth an estimated $28 billion and he enjoys investing money not just in media, but in museums, space technology and clocks.

Yup, clocks. Last summer, Bezos invested $42 million in "The 10,000 Year Clock" project. The point of the clock? It will play a unique sound every year for the next 10,000 years.

Bezos also has a penchant for investing in startups. 37Signals, ZocDoc, Airbnb and Uber are just some of the tech startups that have received funding from Bezos Expeditions.
