In case you've been too distracted by the intense heat wave to read up on tech news, we've compiled a list of top 10 tech from this week.

First up: That familiar orange VLC traffic cone has been missing from iOS devices for nearly two years, but now it's back. Time for users to rejoice in the return of good open-source video-playback software.

In other Apple news, the company was granted a patent for a car dashboard that would digitize most manual controls.

After weeks of speculation, HTC finally unveiled the HTC One Mini, a smaller version of the company's flagship Android device, the HTC One.

It was inevitable that a cheaper rival to Google Glass would debut, and that day arrived this week. An Italian company called GlassUp has been raising funds for an alternative on Indiegogo.
